Foster Care Liaison
The District Social Worker serves as the Foster Care Liaison between Collierville Schools and the Shelby County Department of Children’s Services. The social worker works with the DCS Educational Specialist to hold Best Interest Determination (BID) meetings and determine needs as identified by the family, school, or DCS. If you have questions, please reach out to Julie Freeman for further assistance.

Mental Health Assistance
We know that navigating the world of mental health can be difficult. If assistance is needed, the social worker is available to assist you during this time of need. Social Workers work closely with school counselors to support the mental health of our students. If you feel this service would be beneficial for your student, please reach out to your school counselor. Social Workers can also help direct you to free services in the community, offer guidance in exploring insurance options, and research opportunities that fit your family’s requested needs. If you have questions, please reach out to Julie Johnson for further assistance.

Financial Assistance
If your family is in a season where you need financial assistance due to job loss, relocation, health issues, etc., please reach out to your student’s school counselor or the district social worker. The social worker can become involved to assist in connecting your family with resources in our community. We understand that these challenging times can also lead to difficulties with housing, shared residency, or homelessness. The district can help with some specific needs in this area, but we also have community partners that can assist too. If there is an area of need, please let us know so we can walk alongside you during this difficult season.

Resource Assistance

If your family is in need of any assistance with resources, please reach out to your student’s school counselor or the district social worker to further discuss your needs. The Collierville Schools Family Resource Center houses supplies including school supplies, backpacks, personal hygiene products, laundry supplies, etc. We also work with community partners to assist with many other needs. If you have any questions, please reach out to Bailee Vick for further assistance.

Other Areas of Assistance
We know that every family’s situation is unique and the probability of listing all areas of assistance would not be possible. The social workers are here to assist you in accessing and utilizing school and community resources. Even if the assistance you need is not listed, please reach out and we can still help!
