Dr. Gary Lilly, Superintendent
Tomorrow, August 17th, Collierville Schools reopens our physical, and now virtual, doors to families and communities since the district-wide closure in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would be an understatement to say that this has been a challenging and dynamic time for all of us. In collaboration with and under the direction of our Board of Education, our administrators have sought input from a variety of stakeholders and medical professionals to develop protocols and procedures while keeping students, staff, and families at the center of all decisions. Those efforts have allowed us to put strategies in place to reopen our community’s schools while respecting parental preferences. Though we have made changes to adapt to new information and circumstances, our actions have always been based on an intense commitment to educate students while keeping everyone as safe and healthy as possible.
We will continue to keep students and staff as our focus as we begin and progress through this exciting new school year. Our mission is to prepare our students for a life of scholarship, integrity, and service. Collierville Schools will be the leader in public education, meeting the needs of a diverse student population by preparing them to succeed in a global society and celebrating their achievements of today.
Many thanks are due to all who have invested countless hours to meet the challenges of educating children in the midst of the pandemic, including the Board of Education, school and district administrative teams, and especially our school faculties and staffs who are on the front lines serving students, helping them to learn, grow, and succeed so students can realize their dreams and aspirations.
Thank you, too, parents for your grace and support. As we begin this new journey together, we may make some mistakes initially, but we will work together to overcome any challenges so that we can continue to provide the world class educational experience that you have come to expect and our students deserve. We look forward to overcoming any obstacles as partners, equally committed to the success of Collierville’s children.
We are going to have a great 2020-21 school year! I would love to hear your ideas, concerns, comments, and suggestions. Feel free to email or call anytime. I look forward to working with you to ensure that each child under our care receives the best educational experience possible.
